Just skyped with a lovely German woman from lufthansa airways to find out that both my flights into and out of Frankfurt were confirmed to depart, despite the ash. While I am excited, the thought of 'grit from eruptions sabotaging the plane, blocking fuel nozzles, and melted ash congealing on the blades' is a little foreboding.
Nonetheless, I suppose proceeding with cautious optimism is the theme of the moment, ie, definitely putting contact lense case & toothbruh into my carry on!
