'Ya I was born in a small town, and I grew up in a small town' with.....
- Shops along the stony, muddy streets
- Extra cow pats to burn to heat the house
- A Sherpa wedding, with men dressed in cowboy hats, dancing down the street just outside the lodge window
- a view from the same window of absolutely beautiful, gigantic, snow-covered mountains
- the Namche Bazaar, held on Saturdays, where all the shops are open and it is apparently a ton of fun
- the sound of 'dig dig dig in a mine the whole day through' is heard at 7 am from workers using picks & chisels on the stones (to build houses, shops, pathways, etc)
- A school & high school all in one, and 1 classroom to learn science, math, English, and geography
- A Sherpa museum.....where 'Sherpa' can be both a job & a last name
- A hospital covered by 2 doctors with 1 room for each of checkup, birthing room, science lab, and ultrasound
- an AWESOME small town bar, covered with tshirts signed by international trekkers; oh did I mention it's the highest bar in the world?
- the local beer brand is called 'Everest'
- an Irish bar, 5 min walk from the airport (in Lukla) where, if you go after an 8-hr hike, before dinner, the Jameson will hit you pretttty quickly... Where you can let loose and start up a dance party with your Nepalese mother (aka Sari)... where you can return later without your compatriots to meet other travelers from Salt Lake City, Singapore, and Moscow and rock out to your own iTunes playlist in hiking clothes
---> Not bad for an obscure little town, don't-chya think?
