Poland, Krakow: Sex and this city too

There's an interesting thing about women - and that is that apparently you can put them into any city and you will still have 'sex and the city.'

Take, for example, Trish (who gets more than an honourable blog mention for a fantastic visit) & Michelle, who whether in Montreal or Poland will be the 2 girls to say 'yes I'll bike up the hard way' while most of the rest of the P.E. class takes a shortcut to the top of the hill. And who soak up mountain biking through some beautiul woods, think the elephants in the zoo are awesome, and who love that their hearts are pounding in their chests, cuz it makes them feel alive! (well, truth be told, Trish kicked my ass, I haven't worked out in nearly 6 weeks :)

Take, for example, the 4 New York girls from the TV show whose name entitles this post. Now place them in Abu Dhabi (whose 'fantastic' movie producer idea was that?). And yes, I did go see the movie with Trish and the girls.... Only because cosmos and chocolate covered strawberries/ bananas preceded the event. Anyway, put these women in an Islamic country and they will still be their sex & the city selves, except this time the movie will be awful, without a story-line, and in my opinion, SO disrespectful. Debriefing afterward, I did a double take hearing the words that came out of my own mouth, 'I was there... You just can't do that!'

But, if you're going to truly have girl time, then having it while roaming the streets of this city, not too shabby. Yes, Trish, feel free to interrupt my story to point out an absolutely magnificent church, the Wawel castle & cathedral, the synagogues from the now quiet & empty Jewish quarter of Kazimierz, or the Katyn memorial. More girl talk over Polish food like perogies and guomke (ya there should probably be more consonants in that word). Tomorrow morning let's meet at Coffee Time just inside the Florian gate which still stands from the 14th century, and 'no! Youn didn't!' as we walk along the Plante (pronounced Plante- eh) a beautiful greenspace surrounding the old town square (Europe's largest medieval square). Amidst further lfe chats, Wow, the 16th century Sukiennice (Cloth Hall) is more beautiful at night! The city used to be walled-in, but when the walls were taken down it was decided to keep it as a greenspace and walking/ running path all the way around the Old Town. Oh by the way, this is the way Trish walks to school every day.

Finish it off with giddy girly compliments, 'not to worry's,' and hugs over the day's discussion of 'sex & the city' in Trish's room with the city's clock tower trumpeter in the background.

Not too shabby. Not too shabby at all.
